Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing [MEP] Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Recommends the selection of the appropriate mechanical and electrical equipment, such as HVAC units, pumps, generators, electrical panels, lighting fixtures, etc.
2. Reviews the operation of equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
3. Conducts testing and commissioning to ensure that all systems function correctly and meet the performance standards.
4. Conducts ongoing maintenance and upgrades to ensure that the systems continue to operate efficiently and reliably.
5. Engages in project planning with emphasis on stakeholder management; oversees the management of assigned projects.
6. Provides leadership and coaching of staff; manages performance on a continuous basis and conducts performance appraisals as and when required.
7. Communicates regularly with all department members, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning related issues.
8. Other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of building and equipment management.
• Knowledge of safety practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

• BSc Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 5-10 years relevant working experience
• Supervisory training/experience
• Broad Experience with the following equipment, to be able to intelligently deal with service providers - water systems, pumps, air compressors, elevators, HVAC systems, chillers, generators and UPS

OTHER:

• Must be able to work a shift system, weekends and public holidays.
