The incumbent is responsible for the accurate picking and issuing of materials to production, accepting incoming deliveries from suppliers as well as returns and finished product from production.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accurately picking and delivering production materials, in a timely, safe and efficient manner, as per production material requisitions.
  • Weighs and records weights of products and/or materials as required or instructed.
  • Receives returned (raw and packaging materials) materials from production by inspecting and verifying materials, batch codes, expiry dates and quantities.
  • Assist with inspecting, verifying, labelling and stretch-wrapping filled pallets of product being transferred from Production.
  • Verifying quantities and expiry dates of materials being received or issued. Ensure adherence to company stock rotation practices.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory by inspecting, identifying, labelling, and keeping records of materials in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages, expiries and damages.
  • Assist with stocktaking as required or instructed.
  • Documents materials and records quantities, batch codes/expiry dates delivered, and location of units.
  • Unloading deliveries (materials and merchandise) from delivery vehicles and/or shipping containers in a timely manner and safely relocating the goods to their designated storage areas;
  • Inspecting all incoming materials (raw, packaging and product) before storing in Warehouses or storage areas, to ensure these are visibly free from leakage, contamination and/or damage.
  • Picks and packs products for production, shipping and/or deliveries (as required).
  • Utilizes radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment to track inventory.
  • Daily inspections of forklift equipment, completion of inspection checklists and immediate reporting of faults or damages.
  • Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signals machine operators to move materials onto and off trucks and shipping containers.
  • Operating and manoeuvring all types of forklifts (standing, sit-down, LPG and electric forklifts) safely in hectic industrial environments.
  • Conforms to all recommended safety guidelines whilst operating forklifts.
  • Checks that loads are secure, optimized, centred and properly stacked before transporting, to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Transport raw and packaging materials to production workstations / staging areas and/or other required areas of the facility.
  • Inspecting and using approved pallets (in good condition) for all warehouse operations.
  • Using industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transport.
  • Help maintain the warehouse and storage areas in a safe, tidy and organized environment. Adhere to best storage practices and requirements, aisles between lanes and between the walls and pallets of materials etc.
  • Immediately reporting any damages, expiries, shortages, non-conformance or breach of warehouse, quality or HSE to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Assist with any other warehousing duties as required by the Warehouse Supervisor or designate.
  • Conforms to all established departmental and company policies, procedures and objectives, GMPs, food safety and HSE site protocols.
  • Undergo any job-related training required by the company.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a Warehouse environment (preferably with a manufacturing company)
  • A'Levels Subjects including Mathematics & English
  • Certified Forklift Operator (both LPG & Electric forklifts)
  • Ability to work long shifts in cramped, loud industrial environments
  • Physically fit, able to handle heavy loads (ability to safely lit 20kg unassisted)
  • Ability to work well in a team with other staff to coordinate the movement of goods
  • Knowledge of industrial storage procedures, such as the correct way to stack pallets on top of one another
  • Ability to itemise and record stock for inventories
