The Management Institute for National Development (MIND) is the main pubic sector training entity in Jamaica. MIND became an Executive Agency of Government on April 1, 1999, but was actually formed in 1994 by an amalgamation of five public sector training organizations, which themselves had been established between 1975 and 1978.
The Institute specializes in public sector training, but its range of courses is also available to private sector participants. MIND’s learning products are delivered in programmed courses that are scheduled to run throughout the year, in a customized format called Your Place or MIND and via the internet through MIND Online, our web-based training. MIND’s training encompasses all areas of human resource development with an emphasis on management and leadership. Also, in keeping with government’s modernization programme and its Citizens Charter activities, customer service training is among MIND’s training priorities. Courses are continually being upgraded and modernised, and new learning products are added as national needs dictate. MIND’s main campus is at Hope, Kingston and a learning center is located in Mandeville, Manchester.
