MAINTENANCE PLANNER

CORE PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Chief of Engineering and Maintenance, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance activities by ensuring that equipment, machinery, and other assets are regularly maintained to prevent breakdowns and downtime.

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are well-planned and executed in a timely and cost-efficient manner. The Planner will work closely with other maintenance personnel as well as operations and engineering teams to schedule regular preventive maintenance, handle emergencies, and conduct inspection of equipment and systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and manage detailed maintenance schedules and work orders
  • Ensure that all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, equipment condition, and maintenance costs
  • Manage work orders using HIPPO or any other CMMS used by the company
  • Update equipment and preventative maintenance plans in HIPPO/CMMS
  • Work with the Engineering Manager and Reliability Engineer to plan and implement equipment modifications and upgrades as needed, to allow for efficient and effective plant operations
  • Participate in the development and implementation of maintenance policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Liaise with Engineers, vendors and other stakeholders regarding upcoming scheduled maintenance, including the ordering of components, consumables, equipment and tools via CMMS
  • Identify critical components and material needs and establish safety stock requirements within HIPPO/CMMS to ensure components are on site or quickly sourced to minimize downtime

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCE/EXPERIENCES:

  • Three to five (3-5) years’ experience as a Planner, in a manufacturing environment
  • BSc. in Engineering preferably Industrial, Industrial Systems or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in the food industry would be an asset
  • Proficiency in using maintenance planning and scheduling software
  • Good knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards
  • Familiarity with maintenance equipment and supplies procurement processes
  • Strong organizational, planning and coordinating skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
  • Strong problem-solving skills
