JOB SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of engineering and maintenance functions across all company sites. This role focuses on strategic leadership, effective maintenance management, engineering oversight, and performance monitoring, while proactively managing risks to ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and Implement Strategic Initiatives: Lead the creation and execution of strategic plans for the Engineering and Maintenance departments, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall objectives.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Actively participate in the Manufacturing Leadership Team, contributing to strategic decision-making and ensuring effective collaboration across all functional areas.
- Budget and Resource Allocation: Oversee the development and adherence to annual budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to achieve strategic goals and maintain operational efficiency.
Maintenance Management:
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Culture: Foster a culture of Total Productive Maintenance across all sites, implementing comprehensive training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of maintenance personnel.
- Work Order and CMMS Implementation: Ensure the effective implementation of a work order system and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) across all sites to streamline maintenance operations and improve performance tracking.
- Preventative Maintenance Optimization: Drive the development and execution of optimized Preventative Maintenance programs aimed at minimizing production downtime, reducing defects, and controlling costs.
Engineering Management:
- Reliability Engineering Practices: Lead the adoption of reliability engineering principles across all plants, focusing on enhancing equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and improving overall operational efficiency.
- Project Management: Manage mid-scale engineering projects from concept to completion, including project scope development, stakeholder engagement, and progress tracking to ensure successful delivery within budget and timelines.
- Technical Support and Innovation: Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance and production teams, driving continuous improvement through innovative engineering solutions and process enhancements.
Performance Monitoring:
- KPI Tracking and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Plant Efficiency (OPE), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Preventative Maintenance Compliance. Provide regular reporting and analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead efforts to continuously improve maintenance and engineering processes, using data-driven insights to implement changes that enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Compliance and Safety Standards: Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards, maintaining a strong focus on creating a safe working environment.
Risk Management:
- Proactive Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks related to equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and engineering projects. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.
- Contingency Planning: Collaborate with Executive Management to develop and implement contingency plans for critical operations, ensuring that the company is prepared to respond effectively to unforeseen challenges.
- Incident Management: Establish and maintain an Incident Notification System for maintenance and engineering issues, ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and resolution of incidents to prevent recurrence.
Other:
- Assist in monthly/annual stock taking as needed
- Comply with all Policies and procedures
- Any other duties as required
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Plant Manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a Maintenance Manager role
Experience in a unionized environment with knowledge of industrial relations
Knowledge of OSH requirements and Quality procedures
Excellent supervisory, communication, and negotiation skills.
Excellent reporting skills
Experience with ERP systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
