MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

 

Job Purpose:

Maintains, repairs and evaluates mechanical, electrical/electronic and structural systems on all the Terminal’s Heavy-duty Container Handling Equipment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Executes preventative and corrective maintenance procedures and schedules in conformance with engineering standards and codes and the relevant statutory regulations
  • Completes all relevant documentation to support execution, accurately and in a timely manner
  • Tests equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards and identifies components to be overhauled
  • Participates in the analysis/research of the performance of electrical systems and other components and recommends modifications where necessary to improve efficiency
  • Executes all activities while ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Executes disaster contingency plans and participates in securing all equipment in the event of impending natural disasters such as hurricanes or storms
  • Works on assigned shift and in all areas of the Engineering department, as required by management

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance from a recognized institution;
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in maintenance and repair activities and evaluations for relevant equipment and machinery
  • Successful completion of the company’s Junior Maintenance Technician’s programme
  • Experience working with PLC systems
  • Diesel engine maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of engineering safety practices
  • Sound knowledge of relevant mechanical/pneumatic/electronic engineering systems which include hydraulic / pneumatic / electrical circuits, PLC and fault diagnostics systems; combustion / diesel engines, power transmission hydraulic;
  • Skilled in  preparing and interpreting technical drawing/sketches;
  • Problem solving and analysis skills
  • Must possess a valid general driver’s licence
  • Working knowledge of techniques and methods employed in the maintenance of equipment and machines on the Terminal, including Straddle Carriers, road heads, forklift trucks, trailers and other associated equipment;
  • Sound judgment, problem solving and analysis

  • Must possess a valid general driver’s licence
