MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT - BARBADOS MILLS LIMITED

The Maintenance Superintendent has overall responsibility for the material condition of the plant and reports directly to the Plant Manager in all matters that impact the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the maintenance effort.

The Maintenance Superintendent has overall responsibility for the material condition of the plant and reports directly to the Plant Manager in all matters that impact the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the maintenance effort.  The focus of the role is to maximize production time available on equipment, minimize upkeep costs, and control expenditures related to equipment, spare parts, and consumable items.  This position supports the plant production effort and must provide high quality repair and maintenance services that enable the plant to meet production goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety Leadership: Serve as a role model for the Values Based Safety process, ensuring all employees, contractors, and visitors comply with ADM safety policies and procedures.
• Quality Control: Maintain equipment and ensure it functions as designed while meeting all quality and regulatory standards, including GMP and HACCP.
• Production Efficiency: Maximize production uptime by overseeing effective maintenance, minimizing downtime, controlling MRO costs, and ensuring adequate spare parts inventory.
• Employee Development: Lead and develop a skilled maintenance team, providing training, support, and guidance to ensure high performance.
• Cost Management: Control labor and operational costs, and manage repairs, spare parts, and equipment to drive cost efficiency.
• Environmental & Sanitation Compliance:  Ensure that all members of the maintenance department understand and comply with the sanitation requirements for work within the facility and embrace the “clean as you go” concept.
• Maintenance Planning: Develop and maintain an effective CMMS program, ensure thorough documentation of all maintenance activities, and collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance work around production requirements.

Key Requirements:

• Proven leadership experience in maintenance management, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of plant maintenance systems, safety procedures, and quality standards.
• Ability to manage maintenance teams, develop employee skills, and ensure team accountability.
• Familiarity with managing costs, inventory, and resources to support plant operations.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments, with a focus on productivity and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive and efficient work environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including virtual meeting technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior maintenance role, with a strong track record of leadership in a plant or industrial environment.
• In-depth knowledge of equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair processes.
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong understanding of safety regulations, including OSHA, and experience in ensuring compliance in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, controlling costs, and maximizing resource efficiency.

Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
