Logistics Officer - Consolidation

The Logistics Officer is responsible for optimizing delivery cost/expense whilst managing customer expectations in keeping with the service level benchmark by consolidating full truck loads.      

 

Distribution Responsibilities

  • Sort invoices into designated routes/delivery areas and consolidate them for delivery by full truck loads within the guidelines indicated by management.
  • Ensure the maximum use of warehouse loading time through the continuous preparation and dispatching of inventory.
  • Ensure that both round-town and rural consolidated pick tickets are processed for delivery in keeping with service level benchmarks.
  • Ensure that all invoices being consolidated have complete addresses and appropriate “ship to” instructions.
  • Daily examination of the delivery status report to establish compliance levels and requisite action to achieve benchmark service levels.
  • Disseminate report to stakeholders.
  • Ensure all invoices are processed and accounted for via reconciliation on a daily basis.
  • Ensure bad goods/recall instructions are actioned.
  • Investigate and highlight discrepancies and inconsistencies with the consolidated picking ticket.
  • Ensure that invoices received are scheduled for delivery to meet delivery standard of twenty -four or forty- eight hours (round-town vs rural) after receipt of same.
  • Inform Customer Service Supervisor and Sales Supervisors of all invoices that have not met the standard delivery in 24 & 48 hours as applicable.
  • Efficiently and accurately respond to customers, sales and customer service personnel enquiries re: status of invoices/loads.
  • Review workload for unconsolidated invoices and make preparations for urgent delivery for return to stock through the processing of credit notes at the month/ end.
  • Participate fully in all stock count exercises.
  • Monitor & maintain accountability of all returned invoices from contractors, escalating issues as applicable.

 

 Financial Responsibilities

  • Ensure the most effective use of resources in support of business objectives.
  • Identify and implement innovative ways to add value and reduce costs
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree Logistics, or similar field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a similar capacity
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Technical capability and understanding of distribution and logistics.
  • A team player with a business focused and customer-oriented approach
  • Quality focus and commitment to high quality standards
  • Use of information, communication and technology, proficient in computer software applications including MS Office and Google Suite.
