Logistics & Inventory Officer

The Shipping & Inventory Officer is responsible for supporting the Shipping and Inventory department

Logistics & Inventory Officer

MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Track shipments from source to delivery
• Liaise with suppliers to acquire invoices and packing lists for goods
• Ensure invoices for all upcoming shipments are acquired within adequate time
• Peruse suppliers’ invoice with a view to ensuring items are properly billed
• Apply for permits for items being imported that require a permit
• Liaise with brokers, customs, shipping agency, freight forwarders, and other members of the logistics chain to ensure the smooth flow of shipments
• Liaise with relevant departments  for correct coding of invoices
• Provide timely updates to the management team regarding the schedule of upcoming shipments
• Prepare purchase orders and quotations
• Manage the administrative functions of the department
• Participate in the cyclical stock taking exercises and stock data entry

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 3 years of Inventory experience 
• An Associate Degree or Diploma, training and/or certificates proving competency, experience and knowledge in this field

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of Inventory, Warehousing and Logistics processes
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Must maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers
• Ability to work on own initiative, is responsible and proactive
