The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Licensing & Monitoring Assistant, on contract.

The Licensing and Monitoring Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day administrative functions of the Placement, Licensing and Monitoring Services team.   The incumbent will document and prepare findings on licensing applications, on-site inspections, and facility monitoring activities ensuring documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.   They are required to assist the team in planning inspections according to the Children’s Community Residences, Foster Care and Nurseries Act Chap 46:11  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An Associate Degree in Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Certification in Business Administration from a recognized University.
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in the social services field with experience working with children and/or families inclusive of at least one (1) year in an administrative role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable Certification:
  • Training in CPR and First Aid. 
Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:
  • Assist the Placement, Licensing & Monitoring team in the documenting of site visits to inspect, assess and monitor the operations highlighting recommendations for corrective action /improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of licensing activities, inspections, investigations, and compliance findings including documenting of violations, deficiencies, corrective actions, and any follow-up measures taken to address issues identified during monitoring.
  • Handle all incoming calls, assists callers, and refers all information to the Lead, Licensing & Monitoring while also providing clerical/administrative support in the preparation and maintenance of case files for court appearances. Act as the first point of contact for incoming clients and distribute all incoming mail to the appropriate team member daily.
  • Manage calendars, schedule appointments and coordinate meetings for the Placement, Licensing & Monitoring Team, Clients and other Stakeholders involved in the case.
  • Liaise with support services agencies on behalf of the Team ensuring appropriate referrals are made and/or support services are accessed in a timely manner.
  • Support specialized teams administratively to address issues and review child’s progress in areas such as Assessment & Evaluation; Foster Care; Residential Placement and Family Reintegration.  
  • Maintain a file management system: Create and maintain physical and electronic files and ensure that all case related data is accurately recorded and easily accessible to support team efficiency.
  • Update relevant software daily and captures data from client visits.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of stocks for the Unit/Department by developing and implementing systems for stock control and replenishment of supplies.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required to successfully achieve this job function.
