Roadtown Wholesale Trading Limited and Riteway Food Markets, the market leading wholesaler and retailer in the British Virgin Islands is currently recruiting for a LOGISTIS DIRECTOR.

Role Profile: 

Successful island trading requires an efficient and flexible supply chain capable of maintaining good availability at all times.  The role of Logistics Director is central to this requirement.  The Logistics Director must lead the warehouse and transport teams to serve both the retail stores and wholesale customers simultaneously.  The candidate must be capable of organizing a broad logistical operation covering receiving, order picking, replenishment, inventory management, customer order administration, customer service and distribution. The role requires both hands on leadership on the warehouse floor combined with sound operationally planning. The candidate will thrive on making practical improvements to the efficiency and service of the logistical operation. The Logistics Director is a senior figure in the business and the community and will be a key decision maker in the business.

Responsibilities:

• Availability – ensure product is received, replenished and picked to fulfil all customer orders and store orders with the best possible availability.
• Service – ensure the warehouse and transport schedules enable the business to grow and customers to receive their product at the right time.
• Health and Safety – drive health and safety standards in the operation, making changes to policy where required, implementing improvements and educating employees.
• Development – evaluate the logistics capability and play a key role in its redesign so that capital investments yield the best possible return.
• Fleet – manage the fleet of delivery vehicles including store delivery wagons through to wholesale customer delivery vans.
• Cost control – constantly strive to improve efficiency and manage costs, specifically payroll costs and shrinkage in the operation.
• People – train and develop a successor to the role of Logistics Director from within the business.

• Must be assertive and lead by example.
• Highly organized, methodical and capable of changing the structure and organization of the business to improve service and costs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Manage and work on multiple tasks with varying priorities.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees.
• Enjoy serving customers directly and be prepared to represent the business in front of customers.
• Experience in grocery retail and/or grocery wholesale logistics is essential.

Experience:

• 10 plus years’ experience in retail or wholesale logistics, operating large scale warehouses and transport.
• Strong academic background.
• Degree qualification preferable.
• Full driver’s license.
