This role is responsible for managing the export and import operations of goods and commodities for the organization, while also assisting with certain commercial functions. The position acts as a liaison between the company and external parties, including export customers, shipping agents, brokers, freight forwarders, couriers, customs authorities, and related government agencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compile, review, and generate monthly export reports, ensuring that all required documentation is prepared to avoid delays and charges, particularly for grain shipments.
- Oversee the preparation of import permits, manage logistics for container loading, and ensure timely departure to the port.
- Coordinate shipping logistics and customs clearance for goods, maintaining accurate records of containers, commodities, and consignees.
- Handle claims for damaged or lost imported goods and ensure compliance with customs regulations by coordinating with brokers when necessary.
- Request and track payments for export customers and conduct quarterly updates of export rates for shipping lines and service providers.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Department on insurance claims and prepare service receipts for import-related charges, haulage, and broker services.
- Perform administrative functions in the Commercial Department, including weighing of shipments, generating sales invoices, and processing donations as needed.
- Address inquiries from internal teams and external customers regarding imports, exports, and relevant processes.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in logistics or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment would be an asset.
- Custom Broker’s license or certification would be an asset
- Specialized training in shipping and logistics management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Client-focused with the ability to maintain a flexible and positive attitude.
- In-depth knowledge of logistics, customs regulations, and export duties.
- Thorough understanding of shipping agents and customs brokers operations.
- Proficient in Asycuda World, Microsoft Office Suite, Maximo, and J.D. Edwards software.
