ROLE & CORE FUNCTONS

The Junior Project Manager works closely with the Project Managers and other resources in the PMO to support project development and execution. Project related task include support to preparation of project charters and project plans, including risk registers, schedules and budgets for projects. The Junior Project Manager will perform various coordinating tasks, support & capture notes from project meetings, along with administrative duties and project documentation in support of the PMO. To succeed in this role, the Junior Project Manager should have excellent time management and communication skills, as she will collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines.

Ultimately, the Junior Project Manager duties are to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget and meet high quality standards.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information
  • Support the development of project schedules and all elements of project plans (budgets, risk registers, benefits realization plans, etc)
  • Liaise with clients to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives
  • Support follow up on tasks & action items assigned to project team members
  • Analyze risks and opportunities & support maintenance of project risk registers
  • Support project procurement efforts (follow up with vendors, receipt and filing of documentation)
  • Work with the Project Manager to eliminate blockers
  • Use tools to monitor working hours, plans and expenditures of external project resources
  • Support preparation of project and portfolio reports by gathering and sharing relevant project updates
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
  • Other tasks as needed to support the operation of the PMO

Competence & Skills

  • Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator/Junior Project Manager or similar role
  • Experience in project management, from conception to delivery
  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
  • Strong problem solving and people management skills
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools (e.g. Jira or Trello)

Qualification & Experience

  • BSc in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Project management and/or Agile training is a plus
  • At least 3 years project experience
  • Experience in the Financial Services Sector
  • Understanding implementation of information technology systems is a plus 
  • A solid organizational foundation and process-oriented mindset
  • Experience working in a software development environment
  • Solid understanding of modern information technology
