Junior Finance Officer

China Harbour Engineering Company Jamaica Ltd. is hiring a Junior Finance Officer to assist with cash flow management, payment processing, account reconciliation, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Cash Flow Management:

• Monitor daily cash positions and ensure sufficient funds for operational needs.
• Assist in forecasting future cash requirements to maintain liquidity.
• Payment Processing:
• Issue payments (cheques, wire transfers, or electronic payments) in accordance with approved schedules.
• Record incoming funds accurately and process payments to vendors and employees promptly.
• Reconciliation and Reporting:
• Perform weekly and monthly cash reconciliations.
• Prepare and present daily or weekly cash position reports to management.
• Petty Cash and Currency Management:
• Handle petty cash for operational expenses, including reconciliation and replenishment.
• Maintain appropriate physical currency levels for office needs.
• Transaction Recording and Internal Controls:
• Accurately record cash transactions in accounting systems and maintain records for audit purposes.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard funds and minimize risks.
• Banking and Compliance:
• Liaise with banks to handle inquiries and ensure accurate recording of bank fees.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Additional Duties:
• Assist in tax declaration and planning for overseas projects.
• Support auditors with cash handling reviews and provide necessary documentation.
• Analyze reports to create, validate, and process journal entries.
• Undertake other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.

• Minimum of two (2) years in a similar position.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• High responsiveness and ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
• Positive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality results.

• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
