JOB OVERVIEW:
The Junior Trainee Accountant contributes toward to the efficient and effective workings of the Finance Department by executing daily task with a strong attention to detail and assimilation of information. This role will include the preparation of schedules and journals to assist in the preparation of the financial statements and statutory returns as well as assisting in the day-to-day functions of the department.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Payment and Receipt Processing
• Recording and processing payments
• Receipting and rollover of Investments
2. Audit and Reporting
• Assist with the preparation of monthly compliance report
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and associated duties.
• Prepare Audit schedules and assisting with auditor’s queries.
3. Reconciliation
• Verify and clear items on the intercompany reconciliation.
• Preparation and Clearing of Bank Recs
• Prepare CPC & Tax Reconciliation.
• Prepare Intercompany Reconciliations and confirm balances for month end reporting.
• Enter and prepare monthly journals including Intercompany reconciliations and confirm balances for month end reporting.
4. VAT & Exchange Rate Processing
• Prepare monthly VAT and withholding tax for specific islands.
• Prepare and submit exchange rates.
5. To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the AVP- Finance.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• 5 CXC/ CSEC passes including Mathematics and English Language
• 2 A’ Level/ CAPE passes.
• Completed Level 1 ACCA and pursuing Level 2.
• 1 - 2 years’ experience in an Accounting environment or in a similar capacity.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

The Junior Trainee Accountant must be flexible, highly adaptive to changes in the organisation and possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service focus. He/ She must be a very meticulous, organised and detail-oriented individual. The individual must possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to make sound decisions.
