JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all staff are adequately trained for their respective job functions and on workplace Safety, and Food Safety.

The core function is to facilitate consistency and accuracy in the training administered to staff on the company’s policies, procedures, and work instructions, hence facilitating a knowledgeable workforce.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Implement and maintain Honey Bun’s Training and Development policies and procedures.
  2. Work with department managers to conduct training needs analysis for staff based on respective job descriptions and job functions.
  3. Ensure that department managers and staff complete relevant training on hire, and according to required frequency.
  4. Manage and maintain the training requirement matrix and ensure that training gaps are closed.
  5. Assess gaps in staff training and make recommendations to department managers.
  6. Prepare and maintain the Master Training Calendar and Schedule.
  7. Identify trainers for all areas impacting the food safety and quality system, and secure training for trainers.
  8. Evaluate trainers and provide feedback for improvement of training delivery.
  9. Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with quality & food safety procedures.
  10. Monitor production, quality, and food safety processes to assess compliance to specifications and procedures.
  11. Close identified training-related gaps and deficiencies.
  12. Submit reports on training activities and adherence to training schedules.
  13. Prepare training materials such as PowerPoints, videos, and training aids referencing documented SOPs and work instructions, and ensure that department managers have training material.
  14. Prepare exit criteria evaluations such as test papers and evaluation sheets.
  15. Mark papers and keep track of scores.
  16. Ensure that re-training is conducted promptly in the event the trainee fails.
  17. Assess the effectiveness of training and make recommendations for ways to improve training efficiency and impact.
  18. Keep abreast of technologies for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of training administration.
  19. Identify external sources of training and keep abreast of training program schedules of external sources. Find the most cost-effective training providers for different programs.
  20. Ensure that training documents and records are controlled.
  21. Conduct training including on-the-job training.
  22. Ensure that production staff are trained in new and updated procedures promptly and that training records are kept.
  23. Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or Diploma in food service or related science or Teaching, or a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar capacity.
  • Train the Trainer certification
  • Knowledge of Baking Technology
  • Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, or ISO 9001 desirable
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Hygiene and Sanitation Principles
  • Knowledge of Database management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of video editing
  • Possess a valid Food Handlers’ Certificate

Working Conditions:

The work environment involves spending time on the production floor to observe quality processes, training room and desk-based functions.
