About the JDIC:
The Jamaica Deposit Insurance Corporation (JDIC) was created by the Government of Jamaica to protect depositors and promote stability and confidence in Jamaica’s financial system and has a mission to:
- Protect insured deposits against loss due to the non-viability of Deposit Taking Institutions;
- Provide financial and other assistance in the restructuring/resolution of non-viable Deposit Taking Institutions consistent with the parent legislation for the resolution of financial institutions and other applicable law and standards of best practice;
- Manage the Deposit Insurance Fund consistent with its statutory objects;
- Support the promotion of financial consumer protection and financial inclusion;
- Take such necessary steps to minimize its exposure to loss.

About the Role:
The Systems Administrator (SA) provides support to the Manager, MIS in providing an efficient and secure computer and communication networking system for the JDIC. In so doing, the SA is responsible for supporting the digital transformation project and maintaining ICT infrastructure and service delivery.
Core Responsibilities:
The core responsibiltie include:
- Supporting the Manager, MIS in providing an efficient and secure ICT networking system for the JDIC, including administration of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure configurations, monitoring system performance information and the impact on ICT service delivery.
- Supporting the MIS Manager in the maintenance, acquisition and implementation of all ICT infrastructure in order to ensure the ICT system is secure, responsive and fulfilling the organization's information requirements.
- Supporting the MIS Manager in developing, reviewing and maintaining ICT policies and procedures to support a robust ICT business continuity environment including backup and restoration processes of systems and the management of the resolution of all users, network and communication issues.
- Supporting the MIS Manager in providing MIS support for the management of the administration of the estates of non-viable financial institutions to support restructurings; resolutions and crisis management planning and other operations of the Corporation in normal times and periods of financial institution failure or systemic crisis while ensuring the least possible exposure of the Corporation to loss taking into consideration creditor and investor positions and financial system stability in support of critical economic functions.
- Providing subject matter expertise in cross-functional support and guidance on behalf of the Section to achieve the key objectives of the Corporation’s MIS strategy.
- Assisting the Risk Owner in ensuring all new and existing risks under the Branch or Section are identified, assessed, risk responses are developed and monitored until the risk exposure falls within the JDIC’s risk appetite, and logging loss events and near misses. Executing all other functions in the capacity of the Risk Champion in keeping with the JDIC’s ERM Framework and Policy.
About the Person:
The candidate will require the following:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science, Web Technology, Network Administration or related discipline.
- Microsoft Server administration certification
- CISCO Certified Network Associate or Cisco Certified Network Professional or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years working experience in computer operations with a strong emphasis on networking and virtualized server management systems.

Required Skills and Specialized Techniques:
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer architecture.
- Working knowledge of systems database and management using current administrative tools.
- Working knowledge of relational database management systems.
- Working knowledge of records and information communication technology systems.
- Proficiency in managing Microsoft server configurations and administering MS Server systems in a virtualized machine environment and administration of MS Active Directory systems
- Working knowledge and certification of Microsoft, Windows and Unix/Linux operating system and Servers application server configuration including but not limited to MS Exchange e-mail, web portals, domain name and proxy/firewall servers.
- Experience and proficiency in operating a structured ICT user helpdesk environment including ITIL service delivery standards and processes.
- Good writing and report writing skills
- Sound knowledge of enterprise risk management and internal controls, disaster preparedness and business continuity management relating to the MIS industry.
