The Forklift Operator is responsible to operate the assigned Forklift on ASCO base.
Roles & Responsibilities
General
• Operate forklift (18 ton) as and where required in compliance with company HSSEQ safe working practices and manufacturer’s advised guidelines.
• Conduct daily checks and complete associated compliance documentation.
• Assist fitter as and when required in the maintenance of the forklift.
• Liaise with all departments within the base and assist in other areas as per operational requirements.
• Visual inspection of cargo prior to lifting to identify and report all snagging hazards, loose objects and non-compliant cargo.
• Safely load/offload cargo to/from vehicles.
• Manage Inbound and Outbound cargo on the base to enable efficient handling.
• Assist with Gantry Inspection as and when required.
• To assist in any activity once requested by Chargehands/Checkers, Shorebase Team Lead or Manager.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
• Current forklift certificate to a recognized standard e.g. RTITB or equivalent or an approved internal standard.
• Manual handling training.
• OPITO certification will be an asset.
• NSL Banksman Slinger certificate – OPITO stage 1.
• NSL Forklift Operators Assessment.
• 5 CXC passes including Mathematics and English
• Knowledge of Oil and Gas Best Practice for the Safe Handling of Cargo to and from Offshore locations.
• Maintains positive work relationships.
• Clean Certificate of Character
HSEQ
• In partnership with the HSE department, ensure the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes.
• Reports all incidents or breaches of policy or regulations to the line manager.
• Fully endorse the ASCO ‘Stop the Job’ policy and commitment to proactive intervention where an unsafe act or condition is observed.
• Adherence to the ASCO’s integrated management system ensuring document control and improvements to key processes is maintained.
• Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner, always complies with HSEQ procedures, GLP, working instructions and safety standards.
