CAREER OPPORTUNITY - ASSISTANT BUYER

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION 

The Assistant Buyer will perform mid-level purchasing functions and assist other purchasing personnel in efficient procurement of goods and services, managing the integrity and proper replenishment of all merchandise. Will assist in the supervision and local implementation of products and daily management and relationship with the vendor.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviewing requisitions and developing specifications to permit competitive procurement of items.
  • Set up new items in the Company's Inventory system and maintain the integrity of the data.
  • Understand proper items costing and ensure appropriate accruals in the system.
  • Update vendor price changes. Update vendor prices according to current local currency exchange.
  • Reviews Low/out of stock, overstock, late orders, projected out of stocks and GM Revision reports on a weekly basis.
  • Keep optimum inventory levels based on monthly Buying Budgets.
  • Replenish merchandise in a timely manner, within guidelines and vendor lead times.
  • Confirm pricing, purchase order numbers and delivery dates with vendors on each order.
  • Assist Merchants in vendor meetings and problems and follow up on negotiations.
  • Conduct monthly floor walks with the Merchants, Warehouse Managers and supervisors.
  • Assist demonstration services to obtain demo support from vendors.
  • Conduct weekly competitive shops.
  • Inform the Regional Merchant of the problems encountered with the vendors and merchandise and help with their solution.
  • Maintain good communication with the Merchant, QC, Receiving and Operations.
  • Be aware and notify of gross margin issues, items with zero sales or slow selling sku’s
  • Keep accurate signing and register descriptions of merchandise.
  • Suggest new products for introductions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two (2) years of university-based in Business Administration or similar areas. Degree preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Great Teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional Member service skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and SAP System preferred.
  • Proficient in English and/or Spanish languages (verbal and written)
  • Understanding of “Just-In-Time Inventory”.
  • Availability to Travel.
  • Access to reliable transportation
