ACCOUNT PAYABLE CLERK
General Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the Diocesan Secretary and the direct supervision from the accountant, perform accounting, clerical and administrative tasks related to the efficient maintenance, timely processing and accuracy of accounts receivable transactions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Provides accounting assistance as a member of the accounting unit.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Review and verify invoices and cheque requests
2. Sort, Code and match invoices
3.Enter and upload invoices into Quick books accounting system
4. Reconcile accounts payable transactions
5. Process invoices for payment and prepare cheques
6. Maintain Vendor files
7. Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up-to-date
8. Communicate with vendors and respond to enquiries
9. Produce monthly aged analysis
10.Control/operate a petty cash float
11. Manage/oversee the Diocesan pension/gratuity plans
12. Generate periodic (monthly, quarterly and annual) reports
Qualification & Experience
Post-secondary level education, CAT or ACCA Level 1, Mathematics and English is mandatory experience in Book Keeping or Accounting would be highly considered.
Three years of hands-on accounts payable and general experience in an accounting environment.
Knowledge of Accounts Payables
Sound Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with commercial accounting systems
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
Proficient in data entry and file management
Required Competences
Good verbal and communications skills, fostering positive interaction with members of the public and co-workers as the Diocesan Office.
Ability to exhibit a professional approach to completion of work assigned, ensuring that the final product is satisfactorily completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, instructions and expectations.
Ability to meet deadlines, understand the priorities in work assignments and to exercise judgement and prudence in acting on those priorities
Ability to work cooperatively as a contributing member of a team to attain the goals and objectives of the accounting unit.
