Job description – Solar PV design and installation technician 

Salary and benefits 

  • Salary commensurate with experience.

  • Full training in Solar PV installations can be provided.

Must have the following.

  • Certified electrician with 4yrs post apprenticeship experience – Commercial and residential experience 
  • A recognized Solar PV qualification is preferable, but onsite training and the opportunity to pursue such a qualification can be provided to the right candidate
  • Full driving license
  • Proficient in MS office software (excel, word, powerpoint)

Preferable requirements 

  • Experience installing residential and commercial solar PV systems including grid tied and grid interactive with battery storage – training provided. 
  • Experience working with ground mount PV systems – training provided. 
  • Experience working with leading solar manufactures including SolarEdge, Huawei, and Fronius PV systems – training provided. 
  • Be able to work effectively with the installation team in the completion of projects to plan and standards.
  • Roofing knowledge/experience will be an advantage to the ideal candidate.
  • Must be comfortable & agile working at height.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical components of solar PV installations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Manage the install crew on a job site. 
  • Enforce safety requirements.
  • Review construction and safety plans while setting up the job site.
  • Assign installers their duties while monitoring progress, and reinforcing best practices.
  • Work with the Managing Director in the preparation of pricing, proposals and liaising with clients to ensure efficient and on-time delivery of solar PV systems.
  • Report to the Managing Director, while working alongside solar installers, to meet and exceed goals.

A work permit will be required for the successful candidate. The following are required by the TCI Government.

  • Clean police record 
  • Medical certificate confirming satisfactory health.
