The Human Resources Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) including hiring and interviewing staff, administering payroll information, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

The Job Summary

The Human Resources Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR)  including hiring and interviewing staff, administering payroll information, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The goal is to ensure the HR department operations run smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy

2. Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, queries, grievances, or other issues.

3. Ensure staff results are achieved by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

4. Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital.

5. Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.

6. Oversee the administration of all employee benefits including the administration of payroll documents.

7. Assess training needs to apply, evaluate and monitor training programs.

8. Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics

9. Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.

10. Oversee the identification, selection, and interviewing of candidates, administrative, onboarding and separation of employees.

11. Provide proactive solutions and resolving all HR related queries and requests.

12. Assist to maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job documents for all positions.

13. Ensure the functionality and accurate records of all employee information on the Human Resource applications. 14. Prepare various correspondences, reports, presentations, and other documentation as required.

15. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate quality, health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.

16. Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.

 

Minimum Education and Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Sociology, Psychology or Management from a recognised, accredited institution.

2. Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources or equivalent discipline from a recognised institution is preferred. 3. Certification in Industrial Relations or Labour Law in Trinidad and Tobago.

4. Certification in Mediation.

 

Experience

1. At least seven (7) years human resources progressive HR experience of which three (3) should be at a managerial level at minimum.

2. Experience practicing in industrial relations, preferably in a unionised environment is preferred.

3. Experience in using HR applications and MS Office Suite. Or any equivalent combination of qualification and experience

 

Competencies

1. Demonstratable experience to analyse and synthesize information, including HR metrics to understand issues to make relevant recommendations.

2. Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player and possess good interpersonal skills

3. Excellent ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas clearly using oral, written, presentations, visual and non-verbal communication skills.

4. Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure without becoming flustered.

5. Ability to organise work so that tasks each to complete work on time, prioritize your projects and communicate your progress to supervisors and colleagues.

6. Ability to display a high level of integrity by keeping good on promises; holding self-accountable; and being honest and truthful

7. Significant working knowledge of labour laws and it applicability in the work place ideal candidate will support the full scope of Human Resources responsibilities and partner with the organization on strategic initiatives. They will maintain and enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs, and practices.
