The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for the overall execution of employee relations. This position will provide guidance and leadership on company policy, practices, state/federal employment laws. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: ER, policy implementation, employment and employment law compliance. Responsible for supporting the business in delivering high quality solutions for managers and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Manage escalations from Operations on ER issues
Assist in the interpretation of Company policies and responding to queries, concerns and open- door complaints
Conduct Disciplinary Hearings
Conduct internal workplace investigations on allegations of harassment, unfair treatment, fraudulent activities
Collaborate with HR Generalist/Sr. ER in creation of standardized Disciplinary Action documents
Monitor disciplinary practices and performance management practices
Advises leaders on employee performance issues.
Coach and deliver training to Operations Sups/Managers on proper employment practices and labour laws
Be responsible for executing compliance training
Review Voluntary and Involuntary terminations including administering the exit interview
Conflict resolution
Assist with special projects and duties as assigned
Qualification and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, industrial Relations or related field.
3+ years of related experience
Strong knowledge of fair Labour Laws and Labour practices
Experience supporting hourly employees and client groups
Knowledge of HR Systems
Key Competencies
Strong communication skills (oral/written)
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Experienced with Google Docs
Excellent time and project management skills.
Adaptability to learn a variety of software programs.
Strong Analytical and problem solving skills.
