General Manager - Store Operations

A pharmacy with multiple locations islandwide is inviting suitably qualified persons to apply for the role of General Manager - Store Operations

 

POSITION PURPOSE: 

Oversee the day-to-day store operations across all locations to improve efficiency. Facilitate and maintain dialogue between store managers, corporate managers and directors.Through continuing consultations between directors and managers: 

1. Develop strategic company goals and growth objectives 

2. Evaluate and improve systems and processes 

3. Align general store operations with the company's strategic goals and objectives 

4. Implement and monitor the execution of these goals, objectives, and systematic improvements.

5. Facilitate the development of store managers to enable more efficient and timely execution and implementation. 

6. Align company strategic goals and objectives with general store operations. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

The individual in this function should be very flexible with the ability to work on weekends and public holidays if needed. This position will require traveling to all store locations once per month. 


Store Operations 

Ensure each location is properly run and managed 

Ensure all managers and team members are complying with company policies and procedures

Ensure clear and comprehensive store operation structures understood by all levels

Ensure industry-leading customer service 

Prepare monthly reports on store operations to include departmental analysis for all locations

Collaborate with store managers on their issues and concerns to make improvements and remedy deficits

Review and make recommendations to improve overall and departmental performance

Proactively analyze and evaluate store operations to improve internal processes and systems

Develop and implement SOP’s to ensure the efficiency of our store operations. 


Corporate Level 

Make suggestions for improving company-wide policies and procedures 

Promote an organizational culture where staff members are motivated and happy

Create and chart clear vision, mission and customer service statements 

Create a store managers' succession template 

Strengthen linkages and co-operation between store-level operations and corporate level objectives in all areas: accounting, inventory, human resources, dispensary, marketing, website, IT 

Create measurable metrics in all relevant areas and use them for consistent evaluation of objectives


Human Resources 

Ensure optimum communication and collaboration with HR at all levels and across all functional areas

Create clear and succinct job descriptions for every manager and employee 

Achieve and maintain maximum employee satisfaction 

Evaluate and improve company-wide performance management systems 

Appraise and measure manager and staff performance systematically across all functional areas Conduct regular staff satisfaction surveys and act on the findings 

Improved collaboration to create appropriate staff engagement programs that improve general morale and facilitate greater acceptance of policies and procedures 


SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS: 

In addition to performance of the essential functions above, this position may be required to perform a combination of other supportive functions, to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company 

Other: 

In order to properly service our clients, you may be required to work outside of our scheduled business hours. 

Timely execution of duties in keeping with a pre-arranged schedule. 

Care and diligence in protecting the organization’s assets 


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

Working Environment / Physical Activities: 

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

Work is normally performed in both an interior/office or external work environment.

This position may require persons to do manual lifting of items up to 70lbs 


EXPERIENCE; EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATION 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Retail Management (optional)

At least five (5) years’ experience at a managerial level in a similar position. 

Supervisory Training & Certificate - An asset 

Excellent computer skills (MS Office & Google Docs etc.) 

Proficient in or knowledge of the relevant software in support of this role 

Previous retail industry experience would be an asset. 

Must own and operate a reliable motor vehicle

Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations 

Experience in working with accounting software and other relevant computer applications

Superior data management and data analysis skill 

Strong time management and organizational skills
