Server

Overview:

Trotters Restaurant Group Limited is seeking highly competent staff to join our team and fill the role of server. Our ideal candidate provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all our guests. The primary objective of each server is to show our guests such a marvelous time that will encourage them to want to return again and again.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and greet guests. Makes all our guests feel comfortable and lets them know you’re there to personally take care of them.
  • Informs guests of specials and menu changes including items on the menu that are not available.
  • Makes recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
  • Answers questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
  • Takes food and beverage orders from guests, enters orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
  • Delivers food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner.
  • Opens and pours wine when serving guests.
  • Performs side duties at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
  • Maintains clean service areas.
  • Monitors and observes guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
  • Prepares final bill, presents check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable).
  • Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
  • Be ready and willing to assist the assistant server with clearing and resetting tables.
  • Thank the guests for their visit and invite them to return.
  • Be available to fill in as needed in any other position to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by Management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

(Minimum requirement for satisfactory job performance)

Qualifications

  • Training in aspects of the food service industry, hospitality and culinary arts
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the culinary, food and beverage industry

 Demonstrate Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Food Service Regulations

  • Ability to effectively communicate on the telephone.

 Physical Demands

  • Must be able to walk and stand during entire shift
  • Must be able to carry trays or supplies if and when needed (10-30 lbs.)
  • Ability to stand/walk and stay focused and alert for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, to ensure the restaurant operations are well-managed.
