Manufacturing Cost Accountant

The West Indies Rum Distillery (established in 1893), a leading producer of Barbados rum and rum-based products for local, regional and international markets is seeking to recruit a self-motivated Manufacturing Cost Accountant.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for all aspects of Manufacturing and Production costing analysis and inventory (e.g., comparing standard to actual cost and identifying and explaining variances). The individual would also be expected to work with the Group enterprise resource planning (ERP) planning team and be a key player in setting up and implementing the ERP system at the Distillery.

The Manufacturing Cost Accountant will report directly to the Finance and Administration Manager and work closely with Operations personnel to resolve variances and make recommendations.

Required Competencies:

• A relevant professional accounting designation.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the manufacturing industry. Previous inventory management experience would be an asset.
• Must possess prior experience with preparing budgets, recording and analyzing budget to actual information, and tracking product input cost.
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory and cost accounting.
• Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Extraordinary interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with cross-functional teams.

• Must be a team player who also works well independently.
• Computer and software proficiency including strong knowledge of Power BI, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
