Reporting Relationship:Directly to the Sports Manager and indirectly to the Managing Director.
It is understood that based on the nature of your job you will be working with managers across multiple departments and as such you will be required to comply with all reasonable instructions within your scope of duties given to you by all managers employed to GROVE BROADCASTING COMPANY LIMITED.
JOB OBJECTIVE/ SUMMARY
To deliver credible engaging and up-to-the-minute news on sports to our listeners and readers. The Sports Producer/ Announcer is responsible for taking all of the elements of a sport/game/broadcast/ telecast and coordinating them in a creative coherent whole. Make sure the news broadcast meets the high technological standards of modern broadcast and educates/entertains the broadest possible audience. Additionally, he/she must be up to date with current affairs/issues in sports and will be responsible for deciding the content and agenda for the show/ news as well following developing stories and completing any last-minute edits needed.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
It is a requirement for all Programming Department employees especially On-Air employees to become familiarized with the Broadcasting Commission Standards, which not only involves setting minimum standards for programmes as provided for in the Radio Re-Diffusion Act but also such other regulations as appropriate. As part of the Licensing Condition, employees are required to observe the Programmes Department Standard Operating Procedure unless expressly stated otherwise, the SOP applies to broadcast content and employee conduct. Where the SOP has been breached, this may lead to disciplinary action against you. All on-air employees must recognize.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment
Work is performed in several various conditions including the standard office environment and the field open to natural elements. Work hours are flexible and long as Reporters are almost always expected to be looking out for breaking news. You are required to adhere to the department roster set by the HOD. The Company reserves the right to plan station planned activities during your rostered shift and make them mandatory at short notice.
Physical
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work both in an office.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Develop innovative and creative programming ideas in concert with the Sports Manager.
Writing and rehearsing scripts
Meeting with programme directors/producers to discuss programmes/shows.
Presenting sports news summaries
Read live scripts and read from auto-cues, learning a script or sometimes performing without formal preparation.
Research local community, national and international sporting events
Organize the sports news to present the most interesting pieces first
Ensure late-breaking sports news is added to the sportscasts.
Engage in Commentary
Interview guests and other members involved in particular stories
Introduce sports correspondents reporting on scene and ask them relevant questions
Interact with reporters while on the air
Conduct live interviews with experts who can provide additional information or opinions
Investigate stories
Gather, verify, and analyze data from sources.
Organize material and write sports news reports
Produce sports shows, including coordinating reporting
Sourcing potential interviewees
Checking that copyrights are cleared and understanding all applicable media laws
Contributing to, and making use of, an archive of audio resources that can be re-used
Using technology, such as Cool Edit Pro, Pro Tools, and Adobe Audition, for editing purposes
Meet with the Sports Manager and other sports personnel to be briefed on the day’s news.
Collaborate with the Sports Manager to choose stories to broadcast considering audience preferences.
Comply with all moral code of the journalistic profession.
Keep abreast of sports developments by studying papers, attending events, etc.
Ensuring that the health and safety standards of the Company is maintained.
You may be required to conduct live streaming during work hours.
Adhere to the Department roster.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Requirements:
A degree in any of the following fields:
Broadcast, radio, television, or media production
Journalism
Media or Communications Studies.
Two to five years’ experience in the as a related field and/or as a Producer
Several years of progressive sports broadcasting experience as well as some kind of name recognition in the field.
A strong command of the English language
