IT SYSTEMS ENGINEER

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting and maintaining computer and telecommunication systems and infrastructure within the Company (including, computers, printers, internet, electronic mail, web connection, peripheral components, mobile devices); providing support to users in relation to technical and operative problems and resolving end-user issues. 

Main Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will:

• Install, troubleshoot and maintain the local and wide area network infrastructure; hardware, software and peripheral equipment including servers, routers, switches and wiring.
• Determine enhancement needs and install upgrades as needed.
• Provide technical assistance and resolution as necessary.
• Set up new computer systems and perform routine maintenance.
• Perform routine testing and analysis of network hardware and software tools. Maintain computer equipment and software to ensure secure and efficient operations. Recommend corrective action.
• Repair computer hardware and servers as required.
• Test and implement new software programmes.
• Provide end user support for usage of company assigned devices.
• Configure directory structures, user privileges, access rights, security and file services.
• Troubleshoot fiber optic cable infrastructure.
• Maintain software and hardware inventory and tracking systems; develop inventory lists, and stock and store electronic components.
• Write technical procedures; develop and maintain internal documentation. 
• Provide on call support in the field and by phone to plant personnel.
• Train end users in the use of software application and upgrades as they are introduced and provide guidance as required.
• Research and develop new IT solutions for improved business processes.
• Prepare reports on IT projects and activities as required. 

Required Competencies - Success in this role will require:

• Excellent knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP/IP) networking
• Experience with virtualization technologies.
• Advanced networking configuration and concepts (VLAN, VPN, NAT, routing, wireless).
• Microsoft certification and Cisco Certification.
• Experience supporting a Microsoft Active Directory Environment
• Strong understanding of Microsoft desktop and server operating systems
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
• Microsoft Office 365 support experience.
• In-depth knowledge and active professional certification in CISCO, VM Ware 6.5 & 7.0.

• Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed understanding of impeccable customer service
• Acute learning orientation - flexible and willing to learn new technologies and applications.
• Ability to routinely think outside the box to solve problems speedily

• Valid general driver’s license.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate shall possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science OR Information Technology
• At least five (5) years related experience in similar position or technology related field.

Asset:

• Knowledge of Linux and SAP an asset
