Job Summary
To provide technical support and input in the various functional areas of marketing to ensure that marketing campaigns and activities operate efficiently and effectively. Work involves inter alia assistance with the development of strategic marketing plans, coordination of marketing activities, assisting with and undertaking marketing studies and research.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist the Manager, Marketing and Communications with the design, development and operationalisation of strategic marketing plans
- Formulate and coordinate marketing activities to promote the Science Centre and its activities including Community Science Week, Science, Vacation Camps, Sci-TechKnoFest and local travelling exhibitions.
- Assist the Manager, Marketing and Communications in market analysis for the purpose of developing penetration strategies.
- Identify, develop, and evaluate marketing strategy, based on knowledge of Institute objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors
- Assist in market research studies and analysis findings.
- Consult with advertising agencies and production and support personnel to produce or coordinate production of advertisements and promotions in all types of media for the Institute
- Prepare or edit publications for internal and external audiences, including brochures, booklets, labels and other promotional material.
- Perform related work as may be required by the job functions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management or Marketing
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience.
- Experience in Events Management
OR any equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Sound knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of Marketing.
- Sound knowledge of business etiquette, practices and standards.
- Sound decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of graphics design
- Knowledge of metrics and analytics and understanding of campaign effectiveness
- Knowledge of social media marketing and website content management
- Ability to organize and conduct marketing activities
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with members of staff
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- A high degree of initiative and the ability to develop and foster teamwork
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Must be creative, dynamic and innovative
