General Manager

An Opthalmic company located in Kingston, Jamaica is seeking a General Manager.

SCOPE OF JOB:

The General Manager will be a role model for staff, a collaborator with physicians and ensure the delivery of exemplary patient care across the Hub and Spokes. The General Manager is also responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of clinical services across multiple clinic locations. The position recommends and leads the strategy (both short and long term) as well as implementing, measuring, and improving processes, procedures and services. This includes day-to-day management of multiple clinics and lines of service, providing necessary leadership and direction to assure high quality, safe, cost effective and profitable patient care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, establish, and oversee clinical operating policies and procedures, ensuring consistency with practice goals, mission, vision, and values.
  • Prepare and manage clinic operations P&L’s and financial results, as necessary.
  • Prepare special reports and analyze statistics and data, as necessary.
  • Proactively promote an environment of accountability and performance measurement.
  • Identify performance problems and develop strategic ways to seek resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as with state and federal laws, third party payer regulations, and other pertinent safety, quality, and regulatory bodies.
  • Facilitate productive and collaborative communication between physicians/providers, management, and all team members.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction and patient feedback for implementing continuous operational improvement.
  • Participate in short and long-range planning and the development of organizational goals, strategic plans, and objectives. Evaluate opportunities and recommend capital and efficiency improvements.
  • Facilitate implementation and integration of new services and lines of business.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing at clinic sites including hiring, orientation and performance evaluations, training, coaching, and counseling of clinical management team members.
  • Monitor provider schedules striving to balance patient loads, accessibility for patients to sub-specialty providers, wait times (to get on schedule and to be seen on day of scheduled appointment), and company resources (team members, space, equipment).
  • Maximize office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications and systems, effective utilization of resources and delegation of duties.
  • Promote and endorse teamwork.
  • Maintain professional affiliations, enhance professional development, and help to facilitate external relationships to keep current in the latest health care trends and to develop positive coordinated care efforts.
  • Partner with support service teams (revenue cycle, patient access, ambulatory surgical center) to optimal practice success.
  • Act in a manner of integrity which is consistent with the company's core values, demonstrating respect for the company and its team members, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting and exceeding patient expectations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

  • Master’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration – desired qualifications; Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Project management certification or experience.
  • Experience or knowledge of patient service delivery, ophthalmology, optometry, or ambulatory surgery centers is preferred, but not required.
