The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for an Human Resource Officer, on contract.

The Human Resource Officer will provide services and support in the following areas; recruitment, staffing, training and development, performance management, compensation and rewards management.

 

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Maintains the organizational structure by liaising with managers and developing job descriptions, job requirements and training and development plans for all positions.
  • Conduct preliminary review of job applications
  • Schedule and organize interviews and conduct pre-screening interviews as required.
  • Prepares and conducts orientation and inductions sessions for employees, perform exit interviews and compile reports with recommendations.
  • Researches compensation and rewards arrangements and provide information for the development of compensation and benefit packages.
  • Coordinates benefit programmes, provide information for the preparation of contract bids, do preliminary review of submissions and make recommendations.
  • Keeps employees informed by conducting educational programmes on benefits and other arrangements.
  • Monitors the performance management system, and prepare reports and recommendations on the system to the assigned Lead.
  • Monitors organizational compliance with statutory requirements, research trends in human resource management and make recommendations for changes.
  • Prepare policies and disseminate approved policies as required.
  • Monitors training plans and budgets, liaise with managers in the execution of training arrangements and follow up with employees for reporting on training attended.
  • Updates human resource records by maintaining and filing all documents in accordance with the Authority’s requirements.
  • Provides support for the preparation of the annual pay and benefits budgets, staff training plans, monitor expenditure, research and report on variances and implement corrective action as required.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain human resource information and records, oversee maintenance of accurate and current electronic and hard copy filing system
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in HR or related field.
  • Forty (40) hour mediation certification will be considered an asset
