JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the PCU Plus stores, including personnel, products, marketing, merchandising functions, business processes, network expansion and revenue growth. The Store Manager develops, directs and motivates the PCU Plus team, generates sales & profits, minimises losses and ensures the store is visually distinctive and impeccably maintained. In addition, the Store Manager maximises employee productivity, ensures consistent compliance with the execution of all company policies and procedures and maintains an environment that is results driven and customer focused. The incumbent is also required to develop and execute a competitive store-level retail sales plan aligned to the organisation strategy to boost the profitability of PCU Plus.

 

REPORTS TO: Board of Directors                                               

SUBORDINATE STAFF: Sales Supervisor (1); Inventory Associate (1); Logistics Associate (1); Sales Representatives (8)             

 

KEY TASKS:          

     (1)     Manages the operations of PCU Plus Stores to ensure alignment with the strategic plan and sustainable profitability of operations.

     (2)      Develops and monitors marketing and sales strategies to maximise profitability.

     (3)     Daily administration of sales, payroll, controllable expenses, goals and company activities for enhanced efficiency and profit optimisation.

     (4)     Collaborates with suppliers and Police Credit Union's Business Development Unit to conduct research and gather consumer knowledge on the most recent shopping trends that can positively impact on retail performance.

     (5)     Scans the local retail environment and reports competitor’s initiatives to the Board for strategy development.

     (6)     Establishes weekly, monthly and annual goals for the retail team in order to increase sales of goods, services and credit products.

     (7)     Visits suppliers' facilities to build relationships and emphasise PCU Plus performance goals re: strict performance standards for zero-defect quality, 100% on-time delivery, product value and cost controls.

     (8)     Sets prices for goods in accordance with the PCU Plus pricing strategy to gain and preserve a competitive edge.

     (9)     Prepares operational/annual budgets and develops, implements and monitors tactics to control expenses and ensure compliance with financial allocations.

    (10)    Prepares purchase orders for payment authorization.

    (11)    Prepares monthly reports for presentation to the Board.

    (12)    Controls stock levels and cyclical stocktaking to avoid stock loss and over stocking.

    (13)    Maintains visual merchandising at all Branches to ensure products are properly displayed to positively influence customers’ buying decisions.

    (14)    Co-ordinates timely delivery of items to the customers to ensure efficiency and aid customer satisfaction.

    (15)    Ensures sales team provides efficient and effective customer service to exceed customer expectations and promote business continuity.

    (16)    Proactively responds to customer issues and complaints in a way that builds brand loyalty and preserves the company's reputation.

    (17)    Oversees and manages staff, including work scheduling, performance evaluation, implementation of disciplinary measures and ensuring adherence to PCU Plus policies.

    (18)    Develops and implements performance and team building strategies with staff members.

    (19)    Creates, implements and evaluates training programs to guarantee that all staff members receive ongoing training in product knowledge, sales strategies and effective customer management.

    (20)    Keeps a regular contact schedule with staff, focusing on each employee's sales performance, product sales, customer service evaluations and other key performance indicators to ensure that consistently high-quality, individualized service is delivered and that revenue targets are met.

    (21)    Perform any other related duty that may be assigned by the Board of Directors to ensure efficient and profitable operations of PCU Plus.

 

Minimum Requirements:             

  • Degree in Business Management Studies or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ managerial experience preferably in a retail environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Counter Point System.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s Licence with no record of demerit points.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of modern marketing research techniques and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the Labour Laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Ability to consistently meet and exceed expected targets.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage difficult customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and engage in problem-resolving.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate the work of subordinate staff in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.
  • Ability to work outside of business hours to engage in inventory management and perform other duties, as required.
  • Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to prepare annual budget reports and make impactful presentations.
  • The capacity to organise, coordinate, and arrange the work of subordinate staff in a way that fosters excellence and high morale.
  • The capacity to deal with agitated customers calmly and diplomatically and amicably settle disputes in person or over the phone.
