Accountant

Responsible for the accurate preparation and completion of investment journals, notes and reports

Our client in located in Port of Spain is seeking to fill the position of a Accountant.

Salary range: Accountant- $15,000-$17,000.00

ACCA, CMA or equivalent accounting qualification

JOB SUMMARY:

Accountant

1. Supervises the work of two Assistant Accountants.
2. Reviews and posts investment and mortgage entries on SUN.
3. Reviews reconciliations of investment and mortgage schedules to the GL.
4. Prepares investment notes and schedules to support the Group Reporting Packages.
5. Prepares investment information for the quarterly and annual regulatory returns.
6. Prepares standard monthly, quarterly and any ad hoc reports for management.
7. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual accounts for an assigned portfolio.
8. Performs any other related duties and handles special projects as may be requested by management.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
Education/Experienc

• ACCA, CMA or equivalent accounting qualification and at least five (5) years’ experience in an accounting environment
• Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of SUN accounting software and SUMMIT investment accounting software would be an asset.
• Knowledge of the regulatory framework governing insurance companies would be an asset.
• Previous supervisory experience would be an asset.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Should be detailed oriented, able to multi-task and work in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• An appreciation for and strict adherence to confidentiality.
• Previous experience in a financial services environment would be an asset.
