The Group Manager – Business & Technology is a key leadership role, integrating right throughout the entire organization, being primarily responsible for creating the strategic business plan of the department, implementing the structures, systems and processes needed to execute the plan and leading the operational team to work within it.
With the Group being in an aggressive growth stage now though, the GM – B&T must first lead the company through a cultural transition, focusing on:
(i) Changing the culture of the Group to embrace and use technology more
(ii) Changing the culture of the department to think business first
(iii) Guiding the Operational Managers in designing technology based solutions
(iv) Guiding the Executive Team in developing overall Group strategy
Strong emphasis should be on 360 degree communication, strategic planning, systems design and timely implementing of solutions that make us more efficient, in terms of cost, time and effort. Therefore, project management, including budget management and meeting timelines is a key component of success.
The Group Manager, Business and Technology will primarily focus on:
- Integrating and extracting data from a wide range of sources across the organization.
- Implementing processes that improve data quality.
- Defining, analysing, and reporting on analytics and financials for a variety of projects.
- Conducting statistical analyses to develop strategies
- Identifying trends and analysing data to develop predictive models
- Overseeing the strategic direction and development of the Group’s IT infrastructure including data centres, networks, telecommunications, desktop and devices, helpdesk, service delivery, information security, and shared applications.
- Assessing new computing technologies to determine potential value for the company and provide group-wide direction on the use of emerging technologies for IT.
- Leading the strategic planning and implementation of programs relating to data management and governance
- Implementing best practices to ensure the company is externally competitive and aligned with its internal business needs.
- Managing strategic vendor and partner relationships.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- At least 7 years’ management level experience in Information Technology, Business Development or related field.
- Wide and in depth understanding of all IT core principles, including infrastructure, cyber security, database management, application support and business intelligence.
- First degree ideally in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Operations and/or Business Management.
- Personal experience implementing and operating ERP solutions.
- Strong knowledge of the business landscape, industry dynamics and competitive forces.
- Strong communication and analytical skills for planning and budgeting.
