Our Client, an NGO, is seeking to fill the position of General Manager (GM).

JOB SUMMARY

  • The GM will be required to lead the organization in the development, implementation and achievement of its overall strategic objectives and manage the daily activities of the organization.
  • The GM must possess visionary and inspirational leadership abilities. He/She must be able to take initiative, work without supervision and plan, commence and execute projects independently.
  • The GM will report to and support the Board of Directors (BOD) in the company’s strategic direction and will be required to work both locally and internationally with the community, a  wide variety of private sector companies and various government agencies.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company including its human resource and financial management.
  • Apply innovative measures to grow the organization’s impact in the sector in which it operates and independently create and present to the BOD strategic options for consideration and approvals. Lead in the implementation of all the activities of the company.
  • Lead the development of annual operational plans for the company and execute these to the benefit of all stakeholders. He/She will also be responsible for the writing of ongoing progress reports to the board and the company’s various stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of an annual financial plan for the company and work with the board in developing fundraising activities to help with the financial stability and sustainability of the company.
  • Report to the BOD and provide monthly reports and updates on current and upcoming projects. Communicate programme and organizational risks to the BOD where this is necessary.
  • Ensure all the statutory obligations of the organization are met in a timely manner.
  • Promote the organization at public meetings, events, conferences and partnership meetings and manage all aspects of the organization’s marketing and public relations efforts.

  

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree with related experience will be needed.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in  management  working with and reporting to senior managers and/or boards of directors.
  • Management experience in business, working in a non-profit environment and within government will be assets for the position.
  • Experience with the development and execution of work plans and budgets
  • Excellent written, oral and public speaking skills.
