The Assistant Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that effective follow-up is in place on delinquent accounts, and to reduce the arrears portfolio to meet goals and objectives as set by the Bank.

The Assistant Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring that effective follow-up is in place on delinquent accounts, and to reduce the arrears portfolio to meet goals and objectives as set by the Bank. He/ She contributes to development and implementation of collection strategies to ensure delinquency and charge-off ratios are minimized. Provides direction and supportive leadership to the staff in accordance with the Bank’s policies and procedures. Coordinates the flow of work within the department, ensuring that duties and responsibilities are completed on schedule, and establishes priorities as required.
Job Description:
- Ensures effective follow-up on delinquent accounts is in place by the Collection Officers.
- Effective performance management of all direct reports
- Effective follow-up on assigned high value accounts.
- Ensure compliance with Collections and Company policy at all times, and promote compliance with associated teams.
- Provides feedback / training / coaching when required to direct reports.
- Ensures follow-up is in place for matured leases – ensuring requisite transfers are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensures monthly lease invoices are circulated to Clients as per agreed schedule.
- Ensures subordinates identify accounts early for repossession.
- Handles customer information and queries, with minimum referral to the Management.
- Ensures that the Collection Officers dispatch letters to the delinquent clients on a timely basis.
- Oversight of legal portfolio / bailiff network/ collection agencies for follow up action, and reporting.
- Initiates legal proceedings or assignment of accounts to our bailiffs to recover the deficit balances.
- Assists with designated monthly collection board reports, ensuring timely preparation and submission.
- Assists in compiling arrears committee meeting reports in accordance with agreed timelines.
- Performs sundry duties that are assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 O-Level /CSEC passes.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field.
- At least five (5) years working experience in Banking /Financial Institutions.
- At least three (3) years supervisory experience.
- Experience in Collections will be considered an asset.
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with particular emphasis on Excel, Word & Outlook
- Proficiency using information systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a confidential environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision is essential.
- Must be able to adhere to timelines and set deliverables.
