POSITION: AUDIO VISUAL/MEDIA TECHNICIAN

REPORTING AUTHORITY:

The Audio Visual/Media Technician reports to the Network Administrator.

ROLE AND CORE FUNCTION

Provides technical assistance with the production of events coordinated by the Institution.

SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES 

Operation of Audio Visual, Lighting & Sound Systems

• Provides technical assistance with the use of visual aids, lighting and sound systems and computer equipment to ensure quality of all productions
• Coordinates and supervises the use of audio visual, lighting and sound systems based on the needs of the Institution, Schools or Department
• Ensures that all productions follow safe practices in order to prevent damage of equipment
• Maintains the Control Room and maintain an inventory of all audio visual aids, lighting and sound equipment
• Setup Projectors and other Audio Visual Equipment for Lectures or meetings
• Performs basic repairs and maintenance of Audio Visual Equipment
• Records and Maintains logs of repairs and maintenance work performed on equipment
• Facilitates the setup of audio-visual equipment for School events off campus as required
• Occasionally provides AV support for events and productions after school.
  

P.A. System

• Source and manage the Morning music played over the P.A. System
• Work with relevant vendors in performing regular maintenance of the PA System to ensure it runs efficiently
• Perform first line of troubleshooting of the P.A. System in the event of failures
• Coordinates the maintenance or repair tasks after hours or on weekends as required.

Website Update

• Update the content and news on the BATCE Website as instructed

Help-Desk Support

• Assist IT Technicians and end users with basic help-desk support and lab setup
• Provides technical support to MS Teams live events as required
  

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

Qualifications:

• 5 GCE/ CXC O' Level passes Mathematics and English Language inclusive.
• Audio Visual Certificate or Post-Secondary Training in Audio Visual Technology
• Computer Literacy Certificate/MOS Certificate
• At least one year experience working in a media center, audiovisual or similar capacity
• Proficient in the use of MS 365 Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Team
• A+ or Network + certification would be an asset
• Knowledge of OSH Standard for Electrical Safety would be an asset 

 Experience/ Knowledge

• At least one (1) year working experience in a similar / related environment
• Knowledge of video production equipment, editing and recording will be an asset

• Creative problem solving ability
• Good Communication skills and Customer Care skills
• Computer literate and experienced with MS Office applications, digitizing equipment, Adobe Photoshop
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams
• Self-motivated
