Database Administrator - Level IV

The incumbent is responsible for databases and related functionality, ensuring the highest possible performance, availability and security.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Database Administrator – IV ensures the optimal performance, ongoing automation and support of all on premise/cloud database systems and any dependent solutions/services. The incumbent is responsible for databases and related functionality, ensuring the highest possible performance, availability and security. The candidate will be part of a dynamic team that designs, implements and manages solutions, plan enhancements and drive value through digitization, standardization and automation. 

ELEMENTS OF MAJOR DUTIES 

1. 24/7 support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems.
2. Monitors performance of the database.
3. Provides deliberate tuning of database systems for query and data loading performance, including data partitioning, indexing, etc. in support of the Data Analytics and DevOps teams as requested.
4. Implement and document database back-up and recovery processes as necessary.
5. Gather and analyze requirements for database systems, including data modeling, performance and scalability requirements, and data security.
6. Implements database maintenance and security procedures including adding and removing users, and administering quotas.
7. Ensuring compliance with all license agreements within operational purview     

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering.
• Familiarity with Microsoft/Linux Operating Systems
• Familiarity with SQL.
• Familiarity with OS Level Scripting such as Bash/Shell/Batch/PowerShell.
• Self-starter and be able to perform work with minimal supervisory direction.
• Strong oral and written skills coupled with effective communication.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
