JOB TITLE - HEALTH SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT OFFICER
DEPARTMENT - CORPORATE SERVICES DEPARTMENT
JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of OSHA Safety Programs, manage and/or oversee various projects while providing Health, Safety and Environment advice to the Company and Contract personnel in order to achieve zero accidents/incidents and ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment Legislation.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS - Reports to the Corporate Services Manager
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement an HSE Management System.
• Design and implement programmes to sensitize employees in practicing Health and Safety Methods at the workplace.
• Develop HSE policies and procedures in accordance with Standards and Legislation.
• Assist with audits and reviews of the HSE System and identify potential HSE issues and spearhead investigations of accidents and near misses.
• Provide Accident and Incident investigation and analysis and make recommendations to prevent re-occurrence.
• Provide HSE competency enhance programmes eg., defensive driving, OSHA etc.
• Act as liaison to external stakeholders on HSE issues.
• Provide an emergency response development plan, testing and review.
• Supervises HSE staff.
• Perform special assignment and other related duties as required.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act of Trinidad and Tobago
• Knowledge of Performance Management monitoring and reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Demonstrate level of tact and diplomacy in addressing complicated matters.
• Excellent time management skills.
QUALIFICATIONS/MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
• BSc in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Safety or Environment
• NEBOSH Diploma
• ISO45001 Training
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification
• Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in HSE.
