The Business Analyst I analyzes the business requirements, provides and implements appropriate solutions as it relates to the use of the Company’s information systems.

Job Objective:

To analyze the business requirements, provide and implement appropriate solutions as it relates to the use of the Company’s information systems.

Major Responsibilities:  

  • Requirements Gathering: Elicit, analyze, communicate, validate and document business requirements for changes to business processes and information systems continually exploring and assessing options to add value for clients   
  • Problem solving: Understand and analyze the requirements and document Functional Specifications for system modifications defining scope and proposed solution. 
  • Process modelling: Using mapping and workflows to enable understanding, analysis and positive changes
  •  Implement solution / deliverable working with the development team using documented quality assurance activities such as documenting test plans/scripts, testing, developing procedures and training for same if required.  
  • Help Desk requests: Attend to and provide working solution primarily for level 3 requests (processing and enhancements), assume full responsibility for investigation and resolution of reported problems with production systems, investigate specific areas where system is not functioning adequately. Identify causes and develop recommendations to correct same
  • To perform any related duties as may be assigned which may include User & Peer training/Presentations as required, Documentation of system processes and procedures, Production of Reports, Financial Reconciliations
  • To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager or Team Leader.
                

Education & Experience:

  • 5 CSEC Passes including English Language and Mathematics
  • 2 A’ Levels (CAPE)  
  • A First degree in Business or Information Systems or General Insurance or any related field of study 
  • Business Analyst Certificate from a recognized learning institution would be an asset
  • Process Design certification would be an asset.
  • At least 3 years work experience in the General Insurance Industry or 3 years work experience as a Business Analyst.

Personality:

The Business Analyst must be able to work under minimum supervision in a fast paced environment and should possess the ability to manage tasks effectively while meeting deadlines. He/ She must be highly motivated with strong work ethics and an excellent team spirit.
