Job Summary:
In order to have an effective control of the department the incumbent shall plan, co-ordinate direct and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT Department. The IT Manager also defines and implements IT policies, procedures and best practices.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead the IT Department’s operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources according to organizational plans and budget.
· Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT operating systems, including servers, PCs and hardware in the company according to practices and procedures established.
· Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT software application existing in the Company such as Programmed Solutions Print Management System, Macola Progression Accounting System, Payroll/HR Applications, Management Information Tools, Groupware Applications and Office Productivity Tools among others, according to practices and procedures established.
· Provide maintenance of and support to the Network Operation Centre ensuring effective functioning of the system on a daily basis and where required.
· Ensure efficiency in the operation of the Database Management System, in accordance with established procedures.
· Ensure efficiency in the Administration of the System Security Policy.
· Manage financial aspects of the IT Department, including purchasing and budgeting.
· Practice asset management for IT hardware, software and equipment.
· Develop, and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for disaster recovery, security and any other where necessary.
· Negotiate and administer outsourced and consultant contracts and services agreements where necessary.
· Keep current with latest technology.
· Take timely action in investigating and closing off Non Conformances with regard to the IT Department.
· Plan and administer policies relating to all phases of human resource activity that contribute to the development of motivated and competent employees.
· All disciplinary matters shall fall under the incumbent control in accordance with the policies of the Company.
· Responsible for laising with relevant internal personnel including Quality for the timely resolution and action in their investigating, determining the root cause and recommending, implementing corrective and preventive action to close off non- conformance and customer compliants.
· Prepare annual departmental plans with clear SMART objectives, KPIs and actions that support the strategic objectives and monitor performance against objectives in line with the Performance Management System taking corrective action where necessary to improve performance
· Responsible for ensuring all human resource related activities are done in a timely and effective manner. These activities include but are not limited to 1) ensuring all subordinates are adhering to the company’s rules, regulations, policies, work instructions and operating procedures 2) addressing any disciplinary matters that may arise 3) managing employees’ performance 4) identifying training needs and training staff and 5) motivating employees.
· Prepare accurate and timely reports as required by management including Executive Reports.
· Perform duties with adherence to the Company’s Safety and Quality procedures and practices.
· Perform duties with adherence to the Company’s Food Safety System
· Ensure that good housekeeping practices are maintained at all times.
· Any other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
· First Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent combination of training and experience.
· Specialization Diploma in IT would be an asset.
