COORDINATOR, STEU

 The Coordinator of the Science & Technology Education Unit implements a program of activities to increase the awareness of and appreciation for Science & Technology in students and teachers at all levels island wide.

 EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

  • BSc. degree in the Natural Sciences or equivalent professional academic qualifications
  • Diploma in Teacher Education
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications including MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, and Photo Editor.

 EXPERIENCE

A minimum of Four (4) years’ experience in teaching or administrative capacity

 REQUIRED SKILLS AND SPECIALISED TECHNIQUES

  • A passion for science and the ability to easily communicate science concepts and engage students.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills.
  • Commitment to continued learning.

Technical

  • Training in Public Relations/Mass Communications and Marketing Skills

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                            

  • Prepares budget and associated documents (cash flows, material requirements plan, and implementation plan) for the unit.
  • Designs, and implements projects, including but not limited to: Science Fair, Essay, and Poster Competitions, and Science Camps, among the school population.
  • Prepares project proposals to obtain funding in support of activities coordinated by the Unit
  • Supervise the activities of the Technical Information Officers.
  • Organizes or assists with the planning and arrangement of workshops and/or seminars.
  • Attend seminars, Conferences, Science Fairs, and other programme activities.
  • Represents the council at various meetings.
