The Treasury Operations Officer serves as the “Back office” liaison for AMBL’s and CFC’s Treasury department, and fulfills settlements for payments within the Treasury function. He /She is an important part of the risk mitigation controls and must ensure the adherence of all operational procedures.

Job Description:
- Customer Excellence
- Maintains a register of clients including contact details and Bank instructions.
- Ensures that relevant supporting documentation for each transaction is approved, attached and filed.
- Ensures client call backs are done in accordance with the customers’ instructions while complying with the customer authorization/signature based on the limits set on their KYC documentation.
- Performance Excellence
- Ensures all trades are recorded and filed on the day’s trade.
- Prepares payment instructions (requisitions) to settle trades executed by the Front Office team and follows up to ensure that transactions are settled in a timely manner.
- Documents and follows up on failed positions and trade breaks, claims, charges and other contract deficiencies and forward to Treasury Front Office for action.
- Reviews and ensures all deals (Foreign Exchange, Money Market (CDs, Treasury Bills and Notes, Bonds), Repos and other instruments) created by the Front Office dealers are completed in accordance with prescribed limits and within policy and regulatory guidelines.
- Provides Front Office team with relevant information when early redemption of fixed deposits is requested by customers.
- Confirms receipt of funds from counterparties as per contracts.
- Inputs deposit funding into the Core Banking System upon receipt of customer funds.
- Inputs customer payments on various banking platforms or preparation of letters of instruction to banks for customer payments.
- Creates hypothecations for customers utilising their fixed deposits as collateral for debt facilities.
- Updates the Core Banking System to keep the system synchronised with fund movements in the various operating bank accounts.
- Reviews Treasury transaction details for accuracy and completeness in the Core Banking System and various banking platforms or on correspondence to the banks, authorising or signing off on the same.
- Downloads a summary of wire transfers and deposits on a daily basis.
- Downloads and analysis of all bank statements.
- Reporting & Compliance Excellence
- Ensures all reports, internal and regulatory, are accurate and generated and dispatched in a timely manner.
- Ensures timely processing of statutory payments to the Central Banks on the stipulated frequency.
- Processes statutory payments to the Central Banks on the stipulated frequency.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred major or concentration in Business/Finance) or studying towards a relevant professional qualification e.g., ACCA/CIMA
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in trade support, back office, or middle office with experience in trade matching, confirmation, and/or settlement of foreign exchange transactions
- Experience with and/or working knowledge of foreign exchange trading, fixed deposit products and repurchase agreement products
- Basic knowledge of capital market products (treasuries, agencies, corporates, structured products, repos, equities)
- Microsoft Office Suite i.e., Word, Excel, Access
- Excellent use and understanding of T24.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Effective oral and written communication.
