The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Company's construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, statutory requirements, and quality standards.
POSITION TITLE: Construction Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Project Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and ensure consistency across drawings and specifications for assigned projects, notifying the Project Manager of any deviations for rectification before construction begins.
- Interpret specifications and ensure adherence to QA/QC inspection plans and procedures, promptly communicating any discrepancies to the Project Manager.
- Oversee construction activities on project sites, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and contractual quality standards.
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to Contractors' Foremen and Lead men, ensuring they understand and implement the work plan effectively.
- Supervise and lead work crews, including Foremen, Lead men, and skilled labour, in all project activities.
- Enforce strict compliance with QA/QC, safety procedures, and Company regulations on project sites.
- Identify areas for process improvement and recommend enhancements to policies, procedures, and work practices.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to optimize resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) for efficient project completion.
- Troubleshoot construction problems and offer timely and safe solutions.
- Monitor daily progress, compare actual progress to the planned schedule, and take appropriate actions to ensure compliance.
- Follow and assist in updating look-ahead plans for civil works in coordination with Engineering Technician.
- Review material quantities and usage to minimize wastage and inefficiencies.
- Ensure strict compliance with all statutory requirements, including health and safety regulations.
- Perform any other duties as required.
AUTHORITY:
Direct and supervise Foremen, Lead men, skilled labour, and work crews to ensure projects are completed on time and in accordance with specifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Leadership and Management Skills: Excellent supervisory skills to effectively lead and direct workers.
- Communication Skills: Ability to provide clear instructions and transfer knowledge efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of land development and building construction acquired through formal training and field experience. Proficiency in reading and understanding specifications, drawings, and project-related engineering documentation.
- Critical assessment skills to ensure high-quality craftsmanship.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite will be an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Certification in Construction Supervision from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar supervisory role.
- Proven track record of successfully executing construction projects from foundation to finish, with a focus on high-quality workmanship.
- Experience in managing various types of construction projects is advantageous.
