Our client, the Gambling Control Commission invites applicants for the position of Head - Investigations and Enforcement. This position is responsible for background investigations into prospective gambling licensees and enforcing the rules and regulations of the Commission.

Position summary

The Head, Investigations and Enforcement is responsible for background investigations into prospective gambling licensees and enforcing the rules and regulations of the Commission.The incumbent is also responsible for recruiting, training and supervising staff. The Head, Investigations and Enforcement reports to the Chief Operations Officer, and works closely with other Department Heads to create a corporate culture of compliance within all aspects of gaming operations.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Safety Management, or Criminal Justice, Law or closely related field
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years previous experience in active law enforcement or related activities OR Ten (10) years’ experience in gambling law enforcement and investigations would be an asset.
  • Must possess detailed knowledge in background investigation techniques, and enforcement of regulations, preferably with experience overseeing gambling operations, employees, management and vendors.
  • Knowledge of various gaming practices, such as casino, betting, slot, and table game control functions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Act No. 8 of 2021, would be an asset.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct and/or coordinate investigations and take appropriate enforcement and corrective action as necessary on behalf of the Commission.
  • Participate and manage the evidence gathering process to establish the basis for criminal prosecution
  • Manage and oversee the review of gambling operator management reports; Financial, Minimum Bank-roll, Internal Compliance Reviews, patron incidents/complaints, etc., and other irregularities.
  • Respond to patron complaints, in close collaboration with relevant Department Heads
  • Identify and report suspicious or unusual activity and develop procedures for documenting and responding to such activity.
  • Review, oversee, and conduct where necessary, all investigations performed by Gambling Operators - Surveillance, and Management
