The Electrical Technician I is responsible for performing specialised diagnostics on fixed and rotating electrical equipment as well as overseeing the repair, maintenance and overhaul of all fixed and rotating electrical equipment.

JOB SUMMARY The Electrical Technician I is responsible for performing specialised diagnostics on fixed and rotating electrical equipment as well as overseeing the repair, maintenance and overhaul of all fixed and rotating electrical equipment. The incumbent should possess the ability to effectively perform a range of maintenance repairs and services. This includes carrying out practical tasks related to general maintenance functions and conducting electrical installations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs routine preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with CMMS or as directed with little or no supervision.

• Prepares and submits documentation for handovers (e.g shift reports, shift logs, work orders etc. • Responds promptly and effectively to all maintenance related/breakdown’s calls.

• Able to prioritize & strategize reported issues when responding to breakdowns for mitigating downtime in an effective and timely fashion.

• Knowledgeable and demonstrates work executed according to standards set by electrical codes and best industry practices.

• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals & blueprints in-order to maintain, troubleshoot and ensure equipment up-time.

• Analyse/enforce and exhibit practices in addressing equipment failures that will highlight and determine primary/ root cause.

• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and participating in daily shift hand over discussions.

• Performs, documents and works alongside a team in executing scheduled P.m.’s & calibrations as outlined by OEM standards and procedures (e.g scales, checkweigher, truck scales, platform scales etc)

• Performs duties in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures.

• Performs other duties as may be required by the job function.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Electrical Engineering Technician Diploma or equivalent.

• Mechanical Engineering Technician certificate will be an asset.

• 1-3 years experience with prior food manufacturing experience at a technician/equivalent level & skillset.

• Basic working knowledge of HV switchgear operation and troubleshooting.

• Basic working knowledge of specialized equipment’s (e.g, microwave oven, metal detectors etc)

• Basic working knowledge in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of 3-phase and single-phase electric motors.

• Basic working knowledge in the operation and troubleshooting and programming of high-speed microprocessor based/PLC controlled machines.

• Basic working knowledge of industry related supply equipment (e.g. boilers, compressors, dryers etc)

• Basic working knowledge of electrical/electronic control wiring (e.g smart starters, star – delta starters etc)

• Basic working knowledge of power system installations (e.g. 3-phase/single-phase distribution panels, transformers etc).

• Demonstrate safe work practices and procedures including: LOTO, use of PPE and all other applicable OSHA regulation.

• Ability to work collaboratively with teams across various departments.

• Ability to work in fast paced driven environment.

• Working knowledge of GMP, Food Safety and HACCP guidelines
