Logistics & Purchasing Team Lead

The incumbent's duties will include ensuring the efficient and prompt supply and distribution of automotive accessories at competitive pricing to customers.

Automotive Art Jamaica, retailers of car enhancement products and services, is seeking an experienced professional to oversee and manage their purchasing and logistics process. This includes ensuring the efficient and prompt supply and distribution of automotive accessories at competitive pricing to customers. The individual should be an excellent negotiator, organizer, and problem-solver, who will use their skills to manage this essential area of the business. The incumbent hired will fill the position of:

                LOGISTICS & PURCHASING TEAM LEAD

 Primary Responsibilities of the role:

• Ensure that orders are placed in accordance with agreed standards.
• Develop and maintain tracking systems for incoming shipments from point of order to warehouse receipt.
• Ensure documentation is correct and fulsome before the arrival of the consignment (full container load LCL or special orders) to ensure swift clearance of all shipments.
• Responsible for ordering and sourcing local and overseas accessories for customers.
• Responsible for the coordination of shipments from supplier delivery to facility warehouse(s).
• Liaison with haulage contractors to ensure that freight containers are delivered in the shortest possible time, as well as ensure that containers leave within 12 hours of their arrival.
• Liaison with custom brokers and develop systems to track their performance.
• Liaison with Retail Manager to ensure all necessary items are being ordered and loss sales reported.
• Ensure that purchased items are delivered to the various locations in the least possible time.
• Verify compliance with AEO status with customs.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies required:

• A first degree in Purchasing and Logistics or a commensurate professional qualification.
• A minimum of six (6) years ‘of work experience in a similar role.
• Experience in liaising with local and overseas suppliers.
• Astute procurement skills to ascertain best value for money.
• An analytical mind with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and purchasing and logistics software.
• Ability to build and lead a strong high performing team.
• Must possess a valid driver's license
