Machine Operator

SUMMARY

The Machine Operator is responsible for providing  operator and maintenance level support pertaining to all machines and equipment inclusive of configuring the equipment, loading and operating the machines, and optimizing the machine capability.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications
  • Set up and calibrate  machines at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order
  • Perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during the production process
  • Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
  • Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
  • Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift
  • Recalibrate machines at the end of each shift
  • Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment failures to include processing, packaging and utilities equipment
  • Ensure that regular and preventative maintenance procedures are carried out
  • Ensure that machines are producing quality products by managing periodic checks on output
  • Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times
  • Create and maintain activity logs

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma from NTEI in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience in a related position and 1 year in a plant environment
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Mechanical Systems including HVAC’s, Conveyors, Pumps, Filling
  • Strong knowledge of a heavy duty and high-speed machinery as well as the ability to troubleshoot Mechanical Systems
  • Possess knowledge of machinery and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills and the ability to work safely with minimal supervision
