Web Developer

The Web Developer is responsible for ensuring all websites and services are fulfilled in keeping with local and international standards and internal product delivery timelines.  The Website Developer role is responsible for the creation and maintenance of visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly designs and clear navigation. This position places emphasis on website and programming skills in addition to organizational communication, and accuracy skills with attention to detail. In addition, close monitoring and timely liaison amongst customers, external vendors/partners and the Sales Consultants, to ensure efficient product delivery.

 EDUCATION, SPECIALISED TECHNIQUES AND SKILLS:

  •  A bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent
  • Formal training and certification in Web Development
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with the following programmes/applications/languages: JavaScript, J-Query, HTML, HTML5, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS3), PHP, Woo-Commerce, WordPress, Google Analytics.
  • Proven skills in the following aspects of development: Cross-browser compatibility, User Interface Design (UI), User Experience Design (UX), Object­ Oriented Design, SEO
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently yet function well within a team environment

  LEARNED DISCIPLINES AND EXPERIENCE:

  •  Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Proficient in building web and native apps
  • Must work closely with various departments
  • Must work to schedule and meet deadlines
  • Must be highly organized

 SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB:

 Must have a valid driver's license & a reliable motor vehicle to meet with clients and vendors.

 FUNCTIONS:

 Product Provisioning:

  1. Ensures that all systems are consistently being used for the provisioning of custom website products and services.
  2. Ensures that products are live and accurate, and all the necessary updates are noted in AdMan in keeping with established timelines.
  3. Builds websites and mobile apps in keeping with Yello’s specifications as well as industry standards.
  4. Collaborates with all relevant stakeholders as needed, for the timely and efficient provisioning of Web Development products and services.
  5. Communicates to the Regional Digital Provisioning Manager all relevant changes & updates relating to procedures and processes within the unit.
  6. Liaises with designers to decide on User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) elements
  7. Designs, develops and modifies websites, custom websites and landing pages, according to a client's specifications, business rules, and timelines and industry standards.
  8. Deploys websites and landing pages to the hosting server
  9. Monitors and maintains clients’ websites and landing pages after deployment to ensure that they are working correcly
  10. Attends meetings with clients to get details in order to commence development for a complex project

 Product Development:

  1. Supports internal Digital Products team with new product development and roll-out in a ‘provisioning’ capacity.
  2. Makes recommendations to the manager based on developments in the Digital Media industry relevant to assigned products

 Vendor Management:

  1. Coordinates and follows up on digital requests with relevant vendors and digital partners.
  2. Maintains regular telephone and e-mail contact with vendors and reports as needed back to the Regional Website Development Team Lead.
  3. Works with vendors and digital partners as appropriate in the execution of all Custom Website related jobs.
  4. Any other task related to this area of business as deemed necessary by the Regional Digital Provisioning Manager.
