Digicel is taking a huge step into the future, aiming to transform itself from a traditional telecommunications provider to our customers’ digital lifestyle partner. IT is at the forefront of this journey, and we are investing heavily in our IT capability to underpin and drive these changes in the business.
There are several vacancies for this critical role, and they will each manage one or multiple IT projects, contributing to delivering truly transformational IT change for our infrastructure, systems, applications, and people. In this role you will own end to end delivery of projects, project reporting and governance, as well as relationships with stakeholders both inside and outside of Digicel’s IT community.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Executing IT projects to agreed timelines, scope and budget
  • Working as part of a cross-functional project team, being accountable for IT-related deliverables and representing IT in communications with stakeholders from areas such as Digital, Commercial, Customer Care, Finance, HR etc.
  • Performing the relevant project management processes - i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close, as well as the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication and stakeholder management, etc.
  • Monitoring and controlling the work to ensure that projects remain on track and in control; planning for and managing change
  • Identifying project dependencies and risks, coming up with mitigation proposals for those
  • Leading, coaching and motivating project team members

 

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Operate with limited oversight, taking accountability and ownership of your project deliverables
  • Act proactively, be hands-on and effective in problem solving
  • Propose and implement solutions, not stopping at issue identification
  • Speak the same language” with your counterparts in IT
  • Build and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders outside of IT, and represent IT confidently in these interactions
  • Work well as part of a diverse, geographically spread, matrix-managed project team

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a technical concentration (e.g. Computer Science)
  • 2-3 years’ experience in managing IT projects  Past IT experience in hands-on capacity (e.g. software developer, database administrator, system integrator, infrastructure specialist etc.) would be very beneficial
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, with Project Management certification (e.g. PMP) being an advantage
